El paisaje de la sombra y el olvido

(WIND ORCHESTRA)

2012-2013

17’

Quite inspired by the evolution process of Alzheimer’s disease, the piece deals with the wind orchestra as a massive mass generator, in which one sonorous secretion is progressively overcome by another, as if they were silt layers.

In a recurrent manner, however, we find one musical fragment that comes back  over and over, keeping a semblance whose contours disappear, as happens with memory in Alzheimer. Light modulations behave also as an active agent, going in parallel to these “forgiveness structures” by hiding the orchestra to the audience. All of it when repetition, time and the process’ violent, blur the identity of what was experienced at the beginning of the piece.
