24 Dec Portrait concert at the Akademie der Künste Berlin
The German institution presents the last compositions of the Spanish composer and performer on 27th September. The concert is part of the Progetto Positano, a scholarship given by ensemble mosaik in cooperation with the Ernst von Siemens Stiftung.
The works of the young Spanish composer and performer Óscar Escudero (Busoni Prize of the Akademie der Künste Berlin 2017) will be one of the highlights of the KONTAKTE Biennale für Elektroakustische Musik und Klangkunst, organized by the Akademie. The berliner ensemble mosaik, especially known for their interdisciplinary profile and their implementation of new technologies within their concerts, will perform a several Escudero’s pieces. The concert will be staged by the musical dramatist Belenish Moreno-Gil, who will perform along with Escudero himself and the conductor of the group, Enno Pope.
The program will be composed by [Trilogy of Flat Time] and [Custom #1.2], whose instrumentation was specifically written for the ensemble mosaik in 2017. Besides, the [Trilogy] will get its German premiere. Through its three parts, three performers wearing VR Glasses (a saxophonist, a percussionist and a performer) are” inserted” into a large screen, remaining isolated from the rest of the environment and generating an immersive experience both for them and the audience. The second part, [Point of View], was recently awarded with the Giga-Hertz Spezialpreis, given by SWR Experimentalstudio and ZKM Karlsruhe.
The second Progetto Positano concert will be dedicated to the German composer and performer Julia Mihály.
